Four students of the University of Ghana have been honoured by the Dean of Student Affairs for winning the 2017 Kufuor Scholars award. They were toasted for their outstanding performance leading to selection among the final twenty from a total of 1,300 nationwide applicants for the 2017 Kufuor Scholars Program.
At a ceremony on 11 September, 2017, the Dean, Prof. Francis Nunoo called on the four award winners to emulate the exemplary life of former President John Agyekum Kufuor. “Strive to excel and be leaders with a sense of purpose and commitment, as the former president showed” Dean Nunoo told them.
The four students honoured by the Dean were Prince Asiedu (Bus. Adm), Felicity Dokyi (College of Health Sciences), Caesar Kaba (School of Nursing) and Mary Bushel (English and Political Science)
The Kufuor Scholars Program provides specialised leadership preparation for young people in tertiary institutions. Seeking to add value to formal education , the program offers mentorship, occasional lectures and seminars, internships and leadership camps. Awardees undergo three years of orientation that cultivate the next crop of transformational leaders who are patriotic, selfless and community-oriented.
